Florida has alligators, turtles, frogs, lizards, Lettuce Lake Park, Disney, Fort De Soto Beach, manatees – and a little piece of my heart. I haven’t been there in a long time. It would be nice to visit again to see the Florida Keys, Everglades, or one of the many parks I did not see.

Five Memorable Experiences

All aboard! There is a pumpkin patch train in Parrish, Florida. The train brought you to a pumpkin patch. You could pick out a pumpkin then board the train to head back. This is a great adventure for kids and adults. We took the scenic route to get there which added to the fun day out on the train.

Manatees! They are gentle giants. There is Tampa Electrics Manatee Viewing Center in Apollo Beach where manatees gather in the winter for the warm water that is being discharged. There is a boardwalk, trail, and tower. This was the first time I had seen manatees in the wild.

Not your typical campground experience. Fort Wilderness Campground in Disney was memorable thanks to Chip n Dale Campfire experience. We stayed in a tent, visited the park, but the most memorable part was the campfire. I would probably rate this experience higher than the time staying at a Disney Hotel.

Brave little squirrels. Lettuce Lake Park in Tampa is one that has raised boardwalks. There were many times that an alligator was just handing out at the water below. There is also a tower. The squirrels there were very friendly which I would often wonder if one was going to actually jump on me.

Neighbors and Community. The neighbors I had did make living there memorable. The community had many activities and amenities. It was a vibe. The every day experience of walking on the local trail, sitting in a neighbors kitchen, and meeting up at the “Town Square” made living there pretty special.

And You?
